Plain English Summary

Use the WMS platform responsibly for legitimate water management purposes only. Keep your credentials secure. Don't tamper with other users' devices. We provide the service as-is — we're not liable for hardware failures or data loss. Either party can terminate at any time.

By accessing or using the WMS Device Portal ("Service") at wmsdevice.dpdns.org, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must immediately cease use of the Service and contact us to deactivate your account.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Team WaterMan governing your use of the WMS Device Portal.

You must meet all of the following criteria to use the Service:

  • Be at least 13 years of age
  • Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement
  • Not be prohibited from receiving services under applicable law
  • Provide accurate and complete registration information

If you are registering on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

To access the Service you must register an account. You agree to:

  • Provide a valid username, email address, and secure password
  • Keep your credentials confidential and not share them
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorised access to your account
  • Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account

Device registration: Each physical device connected to the Service is assigned a unique secret key and API key. You are responsible for securing these keys.

Device PIN: Your device PIN is used for local network authentication. Never share it with untrusted parties. We store only a hashed version.

The Service is provided for the purpose of:

  • Monitoring water tanks, motor pumps, and associated IoT sensors
  • Receiving and acknowledging automated alerts for threshold breaches
  • Viewing historical sensor data, graphs, and aggregated reports
  • Managing device firmware via OTA updates
  • Configuring alert preferences and notification channels (e.g. Telegram)

You must not:

  • Attempt to access, modify, or delete another user's devices, sensors, or data
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the platform
  • Send excessive API requests, perform denial-of-service attacks, or attempt to circumvent rate limits
  • Submit false, misleading, or fabricated sensor data
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable regulation
  • Attempt to bypass MAC address trust verification or device authentication mechanisms
  • Upload malicious firmware or payloads via the OTA update system
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of any system or network connected to the Service
Violations of this clause may result in immediate account suspension and may be reported to appropriate authorities.

When you connect a device to the Service, you grant Team WaterMan a limited, non-exclusive licence to:

  • Store sensor readings, motor status, and telemetry in our database
  • Aggregate and downsample that data for performance and storage efficiency
  • Process data to generate alerts, graphs, and dashboard summaries
  • Forward alert content to your configured notification channels (e.g. Telegram)

You retain full ownership of your device data. We do not use your telemetry for advertising or sell it to third parties. See our Privacy Policy for full retention schedules.

Public devices: If you mark a device as public (device_public = 1), its data may be visible to other authenticated users of the platform.

We will make reasonable efforts to keep the Service available continuously. However, we do not guarantee uninterrupted uptime and reserve the right to:

  • Schedule maintenance windows (with advance notice where possible)
  • Modify, update, or discontinue any feature of the Service
  • Impose fair-use limits or throttle API access per device
  • Update firmware delivery mechanisms and OTA procedures
The Service is provided over the internet and via IoT hardware — outages caused by network conditions, ISP issues, or physical hardware failure are outside our control.

All software, UI components, firmware, APIs, documentation, and branding associated with the WMS Device Portal are the exclusive intellectual property of Team WaterMan.

You are granted a limited, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service solely for its intended purpose. This licence does not include the right to:

  • Copy, redistribute, or sublicence the platform software
  • Use WMS branding, logos, or trademarks without written permission
  • Create derivative works based on the Service's source code or design
The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of harmful components
  • Sensor readings or alerts will be accurate at all times
  • OTA firmware updates will not affect device behaviour unexpectedly
  • Data will never be lost due to hardware, software, or network failure
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Team WaterMan shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — the Service.

This includes, without limitation, damages for:

  • Loss of water supply or property damage due to motor control failures
  • Missed alerts caused by notification delivery failure (Telegram, email)
  • Data loss from database failure or migration errors
  • Unauthorised access to your account or device data
  • Economic loss resulting from inaccurate sensor readings

Our total aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you (if any) for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim.

By you: You may terminate your account at any time by using the account deletion option in your Profile settings, or by contacting us directly.

By us: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account immediately, without notice, if you:

  • Violate any provision of these Terms
  • Engage in conduct that poses a security risk to the platform or other users
  • Attempt to access the Service through automated means in violation of rate limits

Termination does not relieve you of obligations that arose prior to termination. Clauses 8, 9, 10, and 12 survive termination.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If unresolved within 30 days, disputes shall be submitted to the courts of competent jurisdiction in India.
